The Opportunity
In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in engineering and design of the HVAC and plumbing systems in various @types of facilities.
This specific position will focus on:
Design and construction activities, including project delivery methods such as traditional Design-Bid-Build and Alternative Conceptual-Bid-Build
DesigningHVACandplumbingsystemsforprimarilyHyperScaleandColocationDataCenterdesign associated with administrative and supportspaces
Supporting additionalareas such as Administrative, Warehouse, Maintenance, Workshop, Laboratory, ChemicalStorage&Handling,ElectricalDistributionCenter,Low&MediumVoltageSwitchgear,PumpAreas, Engine Generator, Blowers/Air Compressors, and Flammable & Combustible LiquidsStorage
Conducting Data Center airflow CFD modeling for interior and exterior spaces
Conductingenergyaudit/efficiencystudies,codereview/application,andsustainabledesign/LEEDapplication of sustainablestrategies
Developing engineering skills while working on challenging projects
The Team
The Mechanical Buildings Design Group provides HVAC and plumbing solutions for Black & Veatch's 3 market sectors - Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Technology, Commercial, & Industrial. Our overall team supports projects across the globe. Preferred Qualifications
Basic knowledge of:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
Previousexperience inData Center/Mission Critical Design
Experience with construction support
Understanding of design differences in Hyper-scale,edgeand collation data centers.
Familiarity with Data Center tier rating systems
Stronge knowledge in Autodesk Revit
Data Center airflow CFD modeling experience for internal and external evaluations
Computer generatedHVAC cooling and heating loads and HVAC equipment sizing
HVAC system energy modeling and energy code
Green building initiatives such as LEED
Technical submittal reviewing process and bid reviewing process for large-scale water and air cooled chiller plants
InternationalCodesCouncil(ICC)SuiteofCodes,ASHRAEHandbooks/Standards,ASPEdesignhandbooks, and SMACNAStandards
NFPA Standards
Attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities simultaneously
Cadence Reality Data Center Design (Formerly 6Sigma Room)
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 1 year related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Certifications
Engineer in training (EIT) preferred
Work Environment and Schedule
This position would require working in a typical office environment. The position may entail prolonged periods of sitting and computer use, and the professional would ideally be able to maintain focus and attention to detail throughout the workday. The position may also be require physical tasks during site visits, including crouching, grasping, and standing/walking for extended periods of time.
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
